The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers was founded in 1987 as the National Association of Livestock Trailer Manufacturers (NATLM). In 1992, association members decided to drop Livestock from their name and become an association for all light- and medium-duty trailers. Twenty-five years later, the association, has grown to represent more than 410 trailer manufacturing and 350 supplier companies who employ more than 270,000 individuals. NATM trailer manufacturing members produced over 640,000 trailers in 2011. NATM is organized to promote a universal recognition of safety and quality in the trailer manufacturing industry.
